Artist vinyl values
Boston vinyl values.
Originals, album by album.
Boston's first two albums are among the best-selling LPs of the 1970s, and they are still easy to find. Collector interest goes to the early orange-label Epic pressings and, for the debut, to copies with Wally Traugott's mastering initials in the dead wax.

01
Boston original vinyl value overview
Expect modest prices. Most original copies sell for $7 to $16, and condition matters more than scarcity. A quiet orange-label disc in a jacket without ringwear is the copy to keep; later blue-label copies with a barcode come from a different, later cut.

How to compare the right copies
An artist name and album title describe the music, not the manufacturing history. Work from the physical evidence before using any value range.
- Check the catalog prefix: PE 34188 and FE 35050 are the original issues, and the JE 34188 copies with a barcode are later.
- Look in the runouts for a stamped 'MASTERED BY CAPITOL' and, on the debut, the etched 'Wly'.
- Make sure the printed lyric inner sleeve is with Don't Look Back before using a complete-copy price.

What moves a copy toward the top of the range
The strongest value signal is a complete set of details that all point to the same issue. For the albums covered here, pay particular attention to:
- Boston: Orange-label PE 34188 with 'Wly' and 'MASTERED BY CAPITOL' in both runouts, in a jacket with no seam or ring wear.
- Don't Look Back: NM orange-label copy with the lyric inner sleeve and a gatefold without ringwear.
A later reissue in excellent condition can still be a great listening copy. It should simply be compared with reissue sales rather than original-press prices.

A few questions
The ones that come up.
Among the albums covered here, near-mint confirmed originals span $12–$45. The exact album, pressing, completeness, and condition determine the price, so use the linked album guide rather than treating that span as a blanket artist value.
Match the release-year label, complete catalog number, both runout matrices, jacket construction, and any original inserts. No single color, logo, or matrix fragment proves the whole pressing by itself.
