Artist vinyl values

The Beatles vinyl values.
Originals, album by album.

The Beatles sold so many records in America that a 1960s date rarely makes a copy scarce. Meet the Beatles! alone sold more than four million US copies in 1964. Value sits in narrow details: the first label and jacket states, complete inserts, clean condition and, for the Vee-Jay album, whether the record is genuine at all.

The Beatles original vinyl value overview

Price the exact issue, not the title. A 1964 Capitol label with no BMI credits, a White Album with its poster and photos, or an uncropped 1969 Abbey Road cover each sits in a different market from a worn later copy. On Discogs, most US copies of these albums sell for $10 to $40; the exceptions are early states in strong condition and rare Vee-Jay variants.

These ranges span the covered albums; they are not a single price for every pressing. Open the album guide and match the label, catalog, matrix, packaging, and grade before comparing a copy.

03

How to compare the right copies

An artist name and album title describe the music, not the manufacturing history. Work from the physical evidence before using any value range.

  1. Read the label rim text, publishing credits and song titles; Capitol changed them between runs.
  2. Check the dead wax for plant marks such as 'IAM' in a triangle (Scranton) or a star (Los Angeles) and match them to the label.
  3. Treat any Vee-Jay Introducing... The Beatles as a counterfeit until the label layout, cover gloss and dead wax all check out.

04

What moves a copy toward the top of the range

The strongest value signal is a complete set of details that all point to the same issue. For the albums covered here, pay particular attention to:

  • Meet the Beatles!: First-state stereo ST 2047 with no BMI or ASCAP credits on the labels and no George Martin credit on the jacket.
  • Introducing... The Beatles: Genuine Version 1 stereo in the 'Ad Back' cover; one sold for $14,700 in November 2025.
  • Rubber Soul: Mono T 2442 with first-run labels (member names, no group name) in a clean jacket with the olive Capitol inner sleeve.
  • The Beatles (White Album): First-state Capitol-text labels with the early song titles, in a clean embossed and numbered jacket with the poster and all four photos.
  • Abbey Road: Uncropped 1969 cover with 'Her Majesty' missing from both the back cover and the side-2 label, in NM.

A later reissue in excellent condition can still be a great listening copy. It should simply be compared with reissue sales rather than original-press prices.

A few questions

The ones that come up.

Among the albums covered here, near-mint confirmed originals span $40–$300. The exact album, pressing, completeness, and condition determine the price, so use the linked album guide rather than treating that span as a blanket artist value.

Match the release-year label, complete catalog number, both runout matrices, jacket construction, and any original inserts. No single color, logo, or matrix fragment proves the whole pressing by itself.
