Artist vinyl values

The Rolling Stones vinyl values.
Originals, album by album.

The Rolling Stones' turn-of-the-decade originals are identified as much by what remains inside the jacket as by the label. Let It Bleed and Exile on Main St. were issued in different label eras, but both reward complete copies with their original paper components intact.

The Rolling Stones original vinyl value overview

A correct record without its poster or postcard set belongs in a different market from a complete example. Verify the pressing first, then price the sleeve and inserts as part of one package.

Albums covered

VG+ originals

$25–$200

NM originals

$50–$400

These ranges span the covered albums; they are not a single price for every pressing. Open the album guide and match the label, catalog, matrix, packaging, and grade before comparing a copy.

How to compare the right copies

An artist name and album title describe the music, not the manufacturing history. Work from the physical evidence before using any value range.

  1. Keep UK Decca and US issues separate when comparing catalogs and sold prices.
  2. Inspect the poster or complete postcard set for tears, pinholes, writing, and replacements.
  3. Check every side of a double LP and do not assume matching labels guarantee matching matrices.

What moves a copy toward the top of the range

The strongest value signal is a complete set of details that all point to the same issue. For the albums covered here, pay particular attention to:

  • Let It Bleed: UK Decca mono first-press with intact poster insert.
  • Exile on Main St.: Complete 12-postcard set + NM gatefold.

A later reissue in excellent condition can still be a great listening copy. It should simply be compared with reissue sales rather than original-press prices.

A few questions

The ones that come up.

Among the albums covered here, near-mint confirmed originals span $50–$400. The exact album, pressing, completeness, and condition determine the price, so use the linked album guide rather than treating that span as a blanket artist value.

Match the release-year label, complete catalog number, both runout matrices, jacket construction, and any original inserts. No single color, logo, or matrix fragment proves the whole pressing by itself.
