Artist vinyl values

Taylor Swift vinyl values.
Originals, album by album.

Taylor Swift's debut reached vinyl ten years after the CD, and Big Machine has repressed both of these records under their original catalog numbers. The year on the jacket tells you little. Value depends on the catalog number, the runout, the color variant, and whether the copy is official at all.

Taylor Swift original vinyl value overview

Standard black or picture-disc copies trade around $100 to $200. Limited variants such as the numbered 2018 Record Store Day debut and the orange FYE Reputation sell for several times that, which makes them the copies most worth checking for unofficial versions.

VG+ originals

NM originals

$100–$200

These ranges span the covered albums; they are not a single price for every pressing. Open the album guide and match the label, catalog, matrix, packaging, and grade before comparing a copy.

How to compare the right copies

An artist name and album title describe the music, not the manufacturing history. Work from the physical evidence before using any value range.

  1. Read the catalog number on the spine, the labels and any hype sticker; limited variants sometimes use a different number on the sleeve than on the labels.
  2. Copy the runout from every side and compare it with the pressing-plant details for that variant.
  3. Treat a colored copy with no barcode, no hand number or unfamiliar center labels as unofficial until proven otherwise.

04

What moves a copy toward the top of the range

The strongest value signal is a complete set of details that all point to the same issue. For the albums covered here, pay particular attention to:

  • Taylor Swift: A sealed 2016 US copy with the Rainbo runouts; the numbered RSD 2018 turquoise edition trades far higher (Discogs median about $810) and should be priced as its own record.
  • Reputation: The orange translucent FYE pressing with both catalog numbers and its Made in Canada shrink sticker; the picture disc itself tops out near $200.

A later reissue in excellent condition can still be a great listening copy. It should simply be compared with reissue sales rather than original-press prices.

A few questions

The ones that come up.

Among the albums covered here, near-mint confirmed originals span $100–$200. The exact album, pressing, completeness, and condition determine the price, so use the linked album guide rather than treating that span as a blanket artist value.

Match the release-year label, complete catalog number, both runout matrices, jacket construction, and any original inserts. No single color, logo, or matrix fragment proves the whole pressing by itself.
